FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS
If there’s one thing New England is known for, I believe Autumn would be it. Out here on the East Coast, we get to experience an incredible display of fall colors as the seasons change. The forests dawn their vibrant, warm hues, while the evenings begin to cool off, and the days become shorter. I’m lucky enough to call New Hampshire home, and get to experience this magical season every year! But for those who don’t live around here, making the visit between September-November is so worth it!
In this post, I’ll be sharing how Marra and Morgan decided to make their wedding into a Fall New England road trip elopement!
Marra + Morgan came from Georgia for a Fall road trip (Maine, New Hampshire, Cape Cod, etc.) They knew they wanted to elope and incorporate their love of the outdoors. What better way than to head out on an adventure (in one of the best places in the US in my not-so-biased opinion..) They are such easygoing, adventurous people, and they planned the perfect extended elopement for them!
They chose a moderate sunrise hike for their morning activity, which meant hitting the trail in the dark. Armed with headlamps and lots of layers, we set out to beat the dawn. We got to the top of the mountain just as the sun began to rise. It was such a rewarding moment to experience together. From there, Marra and Morgan helped each other get ready in their wedding attire and then walked to the spot where they had their intimate ceremony. The sun was a welcome addition to the chilly morning, as they said their vows atop the New England Mountain range.
After that, they had a charcuterie picnic, and then we started hiking back down. There wasn’t a ton of fall foliage yet in this location, so we decided to drive north to find more. On the way, we stopped and got a coffee at the Met in Conway. Then continued on exploring the magical autumn landscapes of New England. We went to a spot that had an epic view of the Presidential Range, and there we found such incredible fall colors. It was such a laid-back, relaxing yet adventurous elopement day – just like Marra + Morgan wanted.
There are so many wonderful ways you can extend your elopement experience. Like Morgan and Marra’s Fall New England road trip elopement, it doesn’t have to be just ONE DAY. You can make it a weekend, a week, heck even a month! Take the time to narrow down what you as a couple enjoy doing together, and find ways to incorporate that into your elopement. Whether that be a surfing trip in Mexico, an off-roading adventure in Arizona, or an autumn road trip in New Hampshire: the options are limitless!
In New England though, I highly recommend making a little road trip. The states are small enough to easily make your way through them, but make sure to give yourself some time. Depending on the locations, you’ll need at least 3 days in each state/area.
For example, in Maine, you can make your way up the coast to Acadia. Along the way, hit up towns like Kennebunkport, Portland, Freeport, Camden then Bar Harbor. That could take 3 days in itself, then you’ll need at least 2 days in Acadia.
In New Hampshire, if you love the mountains, then the White Mountains is where you’ll want to go. I recommend at least 3 days here, as there is so much to do whether it’s hiking, biking, going on the water, and more.
As you build out your New England Road Trip, think about how FUN it would be to get married while doing it!
