Katherine and Howie were heading up to Acadia National Park to celebrate their 3 year anniversary from the day they got engaged! Three years ago, Howie popped the question to Katherine up by Bubble Rock. A perfect spot for an adventure engagement. However, that wasn’t his original plan…
His plan was to do it at the iconic location of Cadillac Mountain at sunrise. However, if you’ve been to Cadillac Mountain as the sun comes up, you know that it is extremely popular. I personally had never seen so many people at sunrise in my life. Howie wanted it to be more private, and Katherine wasn’t in the best morning mood anyways so he pivoted.
And here we are three years later, and a little over one year of marriage. These two are adventurous, kind, silly and all around perfect for one another. I met them when I second shot their wedding, and since then they had been one of my favorite couples ever. I was so excited when they messaged me to tell me they’d be in Acadia when I was. We quickly booked an adventure session. I sent them over some options and they chose the spot where they got engaged. It was perfect.
We woke up early on a Sunday morning when it was still dark and started our hike up. And WOW we got blessed with most unreal colors and sunrise. Honestly, it was top 5 for me. We adventured around, taking in all the views, laughed a lot, and had so much fun.
As we set off to our last spot, the sun started to peek over the mountain creating this incredible flare. The light was beyond perfect, and we took full advantage of it before the sun became too harsh. This morning was one of my absolute favorite sunrises to date, and I think it had to do with the company!
