Today’s post features Sarah and Ryans intimate and adventurous Adirondacks elopement in Upstate New York! Their late summer elopement in the gorgeous Adirondack Mountains was such an honor to be a part of!
Sarah and Ryan originally had planned for a private elopement with just them two. They envisioned a quiet romantic adventure in the mountains star gazing under the gorgeous summer night sky. But after a visit with family, they both decided that they really did want to include their loved ones in their day more than they had thought in the beginning. They ultimately landed on bringing along about 18 of their closest relatives to witness their union, while still including unique adventure elopement elements to their day!
For elopements, I do extensive research on locations and getting to know the area. The Adirondacks were quite difficult! I had a lot of amazing options for the two of them, but I still went up to location scout a few days before they arrived to see the locations in person. The original plan just wasn’t my favorite, so I came up with 3 good locations for their ceremony and had backup plans in case any of them fell through. They chose the most private one and it worked out so well for everyone.
The forecast said rain all day where we were, which really put a damper on the star-gazing dream. However, we did not get rained out, and the day was beautiful! Everyone approached the day with a positive, flexible mindset so, with that, nothing can really go wrong!
Sarah + Ryan decided to do a first look before their ceremony, and then they walked down the aisle TOGETHER. I freaking LOVED that! Sarah’s father had passed away, and she and Ryan had discussed meeting half-way in the aisle, but last minute they came up with this idea and it was SO sweet. I love when couples get creative and make their ceremony special to them!
Their intimate wedding ceremony was officiated by a close friend, which made it so personal to them. Everyone was so full present and emotional, it was so beautiful to see. Afterward, we all headed to a farm nearby for a reception lunch and family photos.
This unique elopement reception featured the BEST farm animals – including a Scottish Highland Cow!! The owner was so friendly and let us take photos with her! It was such a lowkey, fun afternoon celebrating with their family. But the adventure didn’t end there!
After a quick change into hiking clothes, we headed out to do a short hike in the Adirondacks just before the sunset. The rainclouds made for the moodiest backdrop against the expansive New York mountain landscape. While we didn’t get to see any stars, it was a stunning (and private) place to commemorate the adventure that these two just began by saying I do. It was the perfect way to end the day
