When Emma and Sawyer started planning their wedding, they knew two things for sure: they wanted to get married on their anniversary, December 15th, and they wanted their day to be an adventure that felt completely them. A traditional wedding wasn’t their style — they wanted snow, mountains, and a whole lot of fun. That’s how they ended up at Loon Mountain for a skiing elopement that was equal parts adrenaline and intimacy.
In this blog, we’re diving into all the details of their epic winter elopement, from cozy Airbnb moments to snowboarding down the slopes. If you’re dreaming of your own Loon Mountain skiing elopement, keep reading for some serious inspiration!

Emma and Sawyer kicked off their day at an Airbnb near Loon Mountain. With a charcuterie board, some soft music, and a relaxed morning together, it was the perfect way to ease into the excitement. Emma helped Sawyer get ready, then we kicked him out so Emma could surprise him with her dress.
One of the cutest details? Their matching winter hats! Paired with Emma’s absolutely gorgeous dress, it was a perfect mix of elegance and mountain-town charm. For their first look, we headed to the backyard by the river. It was so freaking adorable seeing them smile so hard and a perfect start to the excitement of their day.
After a few photos, it was time to head to Loon Mountain. Emma and Sawyer were both so ready to get on the slopes. We rode the gondola all the way to the top, seeing the golden sun glow on the mountains. Since it was still pretty early in the season, we didn’t have snow topped trees, but the orange glow made up for it.
For the ceremony, we found a secluded spot in the woods, surrounded by evergreens. It felt like a scene from a movie. Emma and Sawyer shared personal vows that were equal parts heartfelt and silly, bringing tears and laughter in the same breath. After saying “I do,” they toasted with a quick Fireball shot to warm up — a moment that felt so perfectly them.
Tip: If you’re planning a winter elopement at Loon Mountain, consider a quick, warm toast or a thermos of hot cocoa. It’s a fun way to celebrate and keep warm!
With vows exchanged and rings on fingers, it was time to hit the slopes. Emma and Sawyer spent the afternoon doing what they love most — snowboarding and skiing all over Loon Mountain. Watching Sawyer go off jumps with Emma (& of course I was very impressed) cheering him on was the kind of joy that makes winter elopements so unique. No rushed timelines, no endless group photos — just pure fun.
The sun broke through the clouds just enough to light up the snow, and we stopped here and there to capture moments of them laughing, throwing snow, and just soaking it all in. The mountain was alive with energy, but their little corner of it felt private and peaceful.
After a day full of snow and sunshine, we wrapped up at the lodge with a well-deserved beer. Emma and Sawyer were flushed from the cold and grinning ear to ear — the kind of happy that comes from doing exactly what you love with your favorite person. After a few toasts and some last photos, I let them head off to enjoy the rest of their evening.
There was something so simple yet so perfect about their Loon Mountain skiing elopement. It was a reminder that your wedding day doesn’t have to be complicated or follow traditions that don’t feel right for you. It can be as simple as a snowy mountain, a fireball shot, and the person you love.
Emma and Sawyer’s day was proof that a winter elopement on a ski mountain is truly magical. Between the gondola rides, snowboarding, and the simplicity of the day, they made an epic memorable day.
