When Kevin and Caroline started planning their wedding, they knew they wanted something a bit different. With Kevin is originally from California and Caroline from Pennsylvania, they knew a destination wedding would be a good in between. They chose a place that combined all the things they loved: the stunning outdoors, time with their closest people, and a touch of adventure. That’s how they landed on a Hermitage Inn Vermont microwedding. The weekend was a perfect mix of intimate elopement vibes and heartfelt celebrations with family and friends.
In the heart of Southern Vermont, Kevin and Caroline’s two-day wedding was nothing short of magical.
Let’s enter into their wedding journey!

Their wedding journey kicked off with private vows at a mountaintop. The morning was cold but sunny — one of those rare, perfect Vermont mornings. Kevin and Caroline shared a quiet first look and intimate vows at the summit, just the two of them (and me with my camera, keeping a low profile). There were so many tears, so much laughter, and a whole lot of love.
After exchanging their vows, they celebrated with a little bourbon and a cozy picnic, soaking in the view before heading back down the mountain for some well-deserved coffee.
That evening, they hosted a welcome party at their Airbnb, and I have to say — I am a huge fan of this idea. There was a taco bar, appetizers, and a laid-back vibe that let everyone connect and catch up before the wedding day. It made everything feel so much more relaxed and let Kevin and Caroline actually enjoy their wedding without feeling like they had to make the rounds.
Tip: If you’re planning a Vermont microwedding, consider a welcome party the night before. It takes the pressure off and lets you spend more time dancing and having fun on your wedding day.
After a night of laughter and tacos, it was time to have their gorgeous Hermitage Inn wedding. The morning was filled with all the getting-ready excitement — that mix of nerves and joy that makes this part of the day one of my favorites to capture. Kevin and Caroline spent the morning apart with their families, making the anticipation for their first look that much sweeter. And let me tell you, that first look was everything. From that moment on, they didn’t leave each other’s side. They both looked absolutely incredible.
The ceremony was timed perfectly with the sunset, casting a golden glow over the Hermitage Inn’s grounds. Kevin’s friend officiated, bringing everyone to tears with heartfelt words as the sun dipped behind the mountains. After family photos and a lot of happy tears, it was time to celebrate.
Kevin and Caroline snuck away to have a moment to themselves (another idea that I LOVE), along with their favorite drinks. It was a nice moment to just have to themselves before being with everyone else.
Caroline’s Polish heritage was woven beautifully into their reception. From sweet toasts to traditional dances, the evening was a lively mix of cultures and traditions. The three of us snuck out for some golden-hour photos, exploring the gorgeous grounds of the Hermitage Inn.
When they returned, it was time for dancing. And not the kind of stiff, formal dancing, either. This was the kick-off-your-shoes, spin-until-you’re-dizzy kind of dancing. Their friends and family circled them, everyone grinning and singing along, and you could feel how loved they were by every single person there.
Kevin and Caroline’s two-day wedding was proof that you really can have the best of both worlds — the intimacy of a Vermont elopement and the fun of a microwedding with your favorite people. The Hermitage Inn in Southern Vermont offered the perfect backdrop, combining that cozy New England charm with enough space to make a whole weekend out of it.
If you’re dreaming of your own Vermont microwedding, think about stretching the celebration out over a couple of days. It gives you time to actually breathe, to soak in every little moment without feeling rushed. From private vows on a mountaintop to a dance floor full of your favorite people, it’s a way to make your wedding feel like a true adventure.
Kevin and Caroline’s weekend wasn’t just a wedding; it was a celebration of everything they love — the outdoors, their families, and each other. And honestly, isn’t that what a wedding should be all about?
