Acadia National Park Wedding | Adventure Elopement with Dog

Tammy and Paul wanted an adventurous Acadia National Park Elopement, but they also wanted to include their family. Thus they came up with this epic idea to have a two-day elopement experience! One day just them two and their pup in the mountains; and the second: and an intimate ceremony on the coast with family. This is the perfect solution for those who really want that private adventure elopement experience, but also finding a way to include friends or family at your elopement!

Day 1: The Adventurous Hike and Vows

Tammy and Paul decided to spend their first wedding day taking it slow at the hotel and getting ready together! I love seeing couples ditching the wedding tradition of the couple avoiding seeing each other until the ceremony or first look. Spending the entire morning or day together on the day you’re getting married makes so much sense, and I highly recommend it! While some couples may choose to keep the final reveal of the wedding attire til the last minute, Tammy had Paul come in and help her finish putting on the dress – which ended up being a super sweet and intimate moment that was so special to witness

Elopement Ceremony Hike in Acadia

After they finished getting ready at their hotel in Bar Harbor, we headed into Acadia National Park! We took a short 1-mile return hike that is an epic location for an elopement in Acadia. With gorgeous views of Jordan Pond, the expansive forests, and even the ocean is visible from this spot. Tammy was a true adventure elopement bride, and wore her wedding dress and boots on the trail! I love when my couples aren’t afraid to get their clothes a little dusty!

We were lucky enough to not see many people on the trail; and ended up having the sunset views all to ourselves! We took our time taking portraits along the cliffs, soaking in the beautiful New England landscape views. And just as the sun set behind the mountains Tammy and Paul said their vows amidst the stillness of the mountain top dusk. And then after their private ceremony in Acadia, they headed back down into town for a casual welcome dinner with their guests.

Day 2: Ceremony at Otter Point

The second day of their Acadia elopement included 20 of their closest friends and family and began again in Bar Harbor. Again another low-key morning getting ready, but this time Tammy had her girlfriends there to help her into her dress! Then it was time to head to the intimate ceremony in Acadia. This time they chose a location right on the cliffs by the ocean (Otter Cliff), with a relatively short and accessible trail for all their guests. One thing I loved was how they chose to stand side by side facing their guests – such an intimate way to be more engagement with everyone and see all the faces of those you love!

After their ceremony we headed back into town for their reception at Stewman’s Pavilion in Downtown Bar Harbor! Everyone was in such good spirits, and the rest of the evening was filled with good food, and lots of dancing. Such a beautiful example of how intimate an extended elopement celebration can be with your closest people. Creating a two-day elopement like Tammy and Paul did allowed for so much freedom to include everything they wanted. AND they got to spend so much more quality time with their people; which is a top priority in my opinion!
