You got your photos back. You’ve gone through the gallery approximately 47 times. You’ve cried, laughed, texted your mom a few favorites, and maybe posted one or two on Instagram. And now… they’re sitting in a folder on your desktop. You have no idea what to do with your wedding photos.
If that’s you, this post is for you.
Here’s the thing: these memories shouldn’t be just pretty files. They’re the record of one of the most intentional days of your life. The day you two said “forget the rules, we’re doing this our way.” They deserve to actually live somewhere.
Whether you’re still in the dreaming phase and curious about what you’ll do with your photos someday, or you’re a current KCP client with a full gallery sitting in your inbox – I put together this list (plus a whole Pinterest board full of inspiration) to help you figure out exactly what to do next.
1. A Heirloom Album
If you do nothing else on this list, please do this one.
An heirloom album is, hands down, the most meaningful thing you can do with your photos. In 30 years, you won’t be scrolling through a digital gallery, but you will pull a beautiful book off a shelf and sit down with a glass of wine and flip through it together. That’s what albums are for.
The albums I offer to my couples are printed on archival paper with lay-flat spreads, so every image gets the space it deserves. My favorites are the beautiful full spreads with the gorgeous landscapes or big guest photos!

2. Wall Art & Gallery Walls
Your photos belong on your walls. Full stop.
There are SO many ways to do this. A single large statement print above the fireplace, a curated gallery wall going up your staircase, a canvas triptych in the bedroom. Even a single framed 8×10 on a nightstand makes a difference.
A few ideas to get you started:
- One big moment: pick your absolute favorite image and go large. 20×30 or even bigger. It’ll stop people in their tracks.
- A gallery wall: mix sizes, mix orientations, maybe even mix in a few detail shots alongside the big portraits. This works beautifully in entryways, living rooms, or hallways.
- Landscapes: Focus on the landscapes or little details of the location of your day in photos.
- A canvas or metal print: for something with a little more texture and depth than a traditional frame. Metal prints especially look stunning with moody, dramatic landscape shots.

3. Gifts for the People Who Love You Most
Your parents and grandparents? They want photos. Trust me on this.
Even if your elopement was just the two of you, the people in your life who couldn’t be there (or who were there and want to remember it) would genuinely cherish a framed photo or a small album of their own.
Or maybe they were present. All the more meaning to have photos in the home.
Some of my favorite gift ideas:
- A parent album: a smaller, simplified version of your full album with the highlights. These make the most incredible holiday or birthday gifts.
- Framed prints: order a few extra prints in a standard size (5×7 or 8×10) and pick up some simple frames. Easy, thoughtful, genuinely appreciated.
- A cute Christmas ornament: you can absolutely use your photos to make cute little photo christmas ornaments!
If your elopement was a destination adventure, giving your people a little window into the experience is such a sweet way to include them even after the fact.
4. Digital Keepsakes
Not every keepsake has to be printed. There are some really beautiful ways to use your photos digitally that go beyond just keeping them in a folder.
- A screensaver or desktop wallpaper rotation — pull your 10 favorite images and set them to rotate. You’ll smile every time your computer wakes up.
- A private slideshow or video — there are apps that will turn your gallery into a beautiful slideshow set to music. Perfect for anniversaries, or just for you.
- A digital photo frame — these have come a LONG way. You can now load a curated selection of photos onto a frame that rotates through them on your wall or desk like a living gallery. The Aura frame is one I love.
- A shared family album — use Google Photos or iCloud to create a shared album with your family so the people who love you can have access to the images too.
5. Announcements & Cards
If you eloped – especially if it was a surprise or a small private ceremony – a wedding announcement card is such a sweet way to share the news. It’s intentional, it’s personal, and it gives you a reason to use one of your most beautiful images.
You can go the traditional route with a formal announcement, or keep it casual with a simple postcard. Sites like Minted, Zola, and Artifact Uprising all have beautiful options. But you can also use your gallery website to place the order with your discount!
Holiday cards are another great excuse to put your photos to work. Nothing beats sending out a gorgeous card in December with a stunning photo from your elopement – especially in that first year.
6. Turn Them Into Artwork
Okay, this one is my personal favorite to talk about because it feels so special and unexpected.
You can actually commission an artist to turn your photos into custom artwork – watercolors, illustrations, oil paintings, line drawings. There are artists on Etsy who specialize in this, and the results are stunning. It takes one of your favorite images and turns it into something completely one-of-a-kind.
This also makes an incredible anniversary gift if you want to surprise your partner with something truly personal. Imagine gifting a hand-painted watercolor of the moment you exchanged vows on a mountain in Acadia. That’s not just a gift – that’s an heirloom.
You put so much love and intention into your day and to have these images have a life beyond a folder on your desktop is so dang important.
