Adventurous Lakes Region Elopement in New Hampshire

Lakes Region elopement portrait - couple holding hands on to pof mountain

When New Hampshire comes to mind, a lot of people just picture the classic White Mountains. But for couples wanting a quieter and more relaxed experience, a Lakes Region elopement could be such a good alternative! You still get amazing mountain landscapes, lots of beautiful lakes, and so many beautiful locations that can be way less crowded.

When Stephanie and Anne reached out to me about planning their New Hampshire elopement, they didn’t have a specific location in mind. But the one thing they knew for sure was they wanted their day to feel like an adventure together.

From the beginning, they really like the idea of exploring somewhere completely new on their elopement day. “A new adventure” in every sense of the word!

As a local New Hampshire elopement photographer, I can’t tell you just how happy it makes me to introduce couples to the beauty of my home state. And getting to help plan a unique wedding day experience for a flexible, open-minded couple?! Honestly, the BEST. New Hampshire has so many stunning locations to elope in that don’t require an all-day hike to experience – just like this Lakes Region Elopement location.

Stephanie + Anne’s Lakes Region Elopement Day

These two wanted to keep things relaxed and intentional, without spending all day on the trail. They also didn’t want anything too formal or traditional, just a meaningful day outdoors doing the things they love!

One thing they mentioned they loved doing together was canoeing and kayaking. So when brainstorming locations, we focused on finding a place where they could enjoy the hiking trails and also a quiet canoe ride together!

During my location scouting, I found them a pond tucked away off the beaten path, along with a nearby place to rent a canoe! When we got there, they had the pond almost entirely to themselves, surrounded by the late fall foliage. I even got the chance to fly my drone and capture the idyllic scene.

Before starting our hike to the ceremony spot, we even had time to stop at a small cafe to grab snacks and coffee. A chill moment before hitting the trail.

We chose a moderate hike for their Lakes Region elopement overlooking Squam Lake. It was the perfect spot for them, scenic without being too difficult a trek, and yet isolated enough to feel private, not swarming with other hikers.

They stayed true to themselves and kept everything low-key and simple, from their attire to their personal vows. It was simply them. No strict schedule. No rushing around. Just a chill day in the great outdoors, enjoying all the things they love together.

We were lucky to get a beautiful sunset overlooking the mountains, while a rainstorm moved through the sky!

After more portraits, a nice hike back down, and a whole lot of fun, we headed back to their cabin. They lit up the fire pit and enjoyed a quiet evening together, celebrating their union.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing couples choose to be themselves and embrace adventure. You can plan a wedding day like this Lakes Region Elopement – filled to the brim with adventure and good vibes. Check out more photos from this stunning Lakes Region Elopement in New Hampshire!
